My family and I are big eaters, especially when it comes to Chinese food. We were big fans of the famous ones in Wheaton, which I'm sure many know about, Paul Kee and Full Kee. However, as the years went by, it became a no-go for us because the food was getting worse. Salt and over usage of oil was a huge factor, not to mention msg too. What I really recommend here and it's not on the menu anywhere, is there Thai-style baby clams. This dish ALWAYS hits the spot. It's your ordinary baby clams, tossed with caramelized onions, a touch of oyster sauce (I think that's what it is) and ground meat (typically pork or chicken). Not greasy and has the right flavor (I can taste it now ...). Another dish we order is the peking duck. Now keep in mind, I know this isn't a peking duck spot like the the famous one out in Falls Church, but this is pretty good considering we don't need to drive such a distance. The duck is typically in the low $20s and it's done right. No fat on the crispy skin and the wraps are not made of flour tortilla from Chipotle. Good stuff. Just to name a few more, their steamed fish with soy sauce, ginger, and scallions is good (make sure you ask the server is the fish is TRULY fresh or not), pan-fried noodles with seafood and gravy, roast duck is good, they also have a special braised duck too (they don't have this everyday, now and then). The service is good, can't complain. The staff is friendly and Mr. Head Chef always floats around to greet the tables. Again, this is a go-to spot for me, family, wifey, and friends if we are in the mood for some good canto food.

I completely agree with the first review listed here - hits the nail on the head. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone out of the area, but for those of us here, it's fine and they deliver. The food at the "other" nearby Chinese restaurant (Lee's Kitchen) is probably a little better, but we still stick with Fu Lin, because it's familiar, next to Baskin Robbins and CVS, and the food is decent. One thing to note, however, is that as of about a year ago (sometime in 2007), the management changed. It looks much nicer and has more "authentic" Chinese food, but they are much less willing to honor special requests (i.e. if you want something extra in your dish...sometimes they will do it, but often they won't). The delivery is incredibly speedy and the food arrives hot!

Above average food. Good service. We've been there 6-7 times. Only complaint I have is that one night we saw a mouse run across the dining room! The crispy beef and chicken, Kung Pao chicken, Szechuan green beans, chicken in black bean sauce are our favs so far.

Really good food. Taste fresh, great clean place. Good service. Highly recommend this place.

Just came here for dinner with the fam, and I have to say it was pretty darn good. We all split one of the chef's specials - walnut shrimp with mayonnaise sauce (also served with broccoli). I know what you're thinking, mayonnaise sauce??? Gross!! But it wasn't. It wasn't amazing, but it was pretty good, and the shrimp were big. I had the shrimp and scallop with hot garlic sauce and fried rice. And it was very good. I ate everything on the plate except the mushrooms (gross!!). The waitress was friendly, but not 100% helpful (maybe a bit of a language barrier). But it was all pretty good.

I like the dinner combos, it includes a spring roll and the food is tasty. I especially like the crispy shrimp.

I'm a regular here, and I have to say that the food is pretty consistent. I don't love everything, but what they do an amazing job of is the salt and pepper shrimp. Yummm! It's best the authentic way, with the shell and head on. Awesome!

Whenever I happen to be in the area and am feeling some Asian fusion for lunch, I always find myself to eat here. Like all of the previous reviews, I also find the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. So far I have tried their crispy eggplant, orange chicken, egg drop soup and their fried rice and SO FAR, I can't say that i've been disappointed. I also enjoy that they are open to not using MSG upon request. For a family owned restaurant in a fairly low-traffic shopping center, Fu Lin seems fairly inexpensive, efficient in service and tastes great in quality. I most definitely recommend this restaurant!

We were in the area and decided to check out this place tonight with the family. The waitresses/hostesses were super friendly and very sweet. One of my pet peeves is when waiters hound you for your order when you are very clearly still reading the menu. We had our 2 finicky children with us, so it took a few minutes to decide what we all wanted. I started feeling that panicked feeling you get when you feel rushed to order something, but looked over to see our waitress keeping an eye on our table and waiting for us to make up our minds. Panic averted. We settled on the pork pan-fried dumplings (my 5 year old's perennial fave), chicken with cashew nuts, orange beef, side of fried rice, egg rolls, and hot and sour soup. The egg rolls were ok, nothing to rave about but everything else was really delicious. The dumplings and dipping sauce were so good, I was sad that we had promised them to our daughter as her entrée. She of course helped herself to a hearty helping of both the cashew chicken and the orange beef. :( Luckily, we still have plenty of leftovers and can't wait to eat them tomorrow!

Simply delicious with excellent service! The best General Tso"s and shrimp fried rice that I've had in a very long time. I will definitely be coming back! YUMMY!

Fu Lin is one of the best if not the best Chinese I've had. My husband and I enjoy the freshness of the food as well as the flavor and quantity. We've tried their crispy beef (my favorite), broccoli in garlic sauce, cashew chicken, chicken lo mein, crab rangoon, etc. Never a bad meal. Anytime we want Chinese this place is our first choice. Only complaint is delivery is too long.

This local Chinese take-out and delivery place has served the area well for a long time. In recent years, it has also developed into a very good Cantonese dinner place. Our family relies on it almost exclusively for our Friday "Chinese night" dinner together. The whole chicken entrees, "Thai-style" entrees, salt and pepper entrees, Chinese green vegetables, etc are all top notch. In fact, anything on the "Chinese menu" is very good. Most of the standard American-Chinese dishes are nice too. Try the curried eggplant, crispy beef or chicken, spareribs, or any fish. The staff is really warm and friendly, giving good service. The prices are very reasonable. I recommend Fu Lin; I think you'll like it.

What a fantastic local Chinese restaurant! The staff is friendly and accommodating, seeking to meet your every need. The food is outstanding; the chef is very talented! For a Chinese place tucked in the corner of a strip mall, Fu Lin is Fu Great. If the dish you want is not on the menu the chef can probably make it, and make it well.

This is my family's usual sunday dinner restaurant. It is a small family owned place with friendly service. We go here for lobster (thai.style). Also, their chicken with garlic is to die for!

I have to admit that the reason I tried this place is in itself embarrassing. A friend was supposed to have a birthday party there. After showing up and not seeing anyone, my wife and I realized that the party was the following week. Since we were there, we decided to stay and have dinner. The place was relatively empty and screams dive, but having friends vouch for it (and the wait staff serve us drinks) we were obligated to stay. We ordered the walnut shrimp and the roast duck. True Cantonese banquet foods. I will have to give them credit in that the food was very good. Truly tasty. I perused the menu and saw that they serve banquet style 10 course meals. Looking forward to going back for the birthday party to do the 10 course family style meal.

The food tastes great and reasonable. The staff is friendly. I like the fried Chilean sea bass with soy ginger garlic. The roasted duck is very good with crisp skin. Fried soft shell crab is not too salty. Delicious!

  • Paola G.

I really like Fulin, my fave is the spicy chicken but the last two times I went they have given me the worst quality chicken in 7 Years I've been there. I think The next time I go and the food sucks it will be my last! Other than that, the food is great, their service is awesome and the restaurant itself is really nice.

My family has eaten here for years but we too have noticed that the meat quality has started to decline. The chicken fried rice which was a favorite no longer tastes the same. I can say the same for the chicken and broccoli. I dont see us dining there again. Oh how I wish things stayed the same...

As another yelper alluded to, it took a very long time for me to notice this restaurant that is minutes from my home. It's tucked away in the corner of an unassuming shopping center. I usually get delivery, and it's always so fast and friendly. My standard order is fa-do fish fillet, salt and pepper string beans, and some sort of chow fun. The fa-do fish fillet is delicious; they use fresh tasting white fish fillets and crisp vegetables like snow peas and lotus. The salt and pepper string beans are cooked like the salt and pepper shrimp and squid that people who frequent Chinese restaurants know and love; it's battered, fried and mixed with salt and sliced jalapenos. The chow fun is fine, nothing groundbreaking but solid and a good counterpart to the other things I order.

  • Derryk A.

A little bit good a little bit so so a balanced mixture of both. Egg drop could use a little more sodium but does the job on a cold winter night. Szechuan needs a bit more spike to it and seafood combo is about what I expected from this type of place. Tea was hot, service good and friendly and we went in near closing time. Well it does the job of easing hunger pains just fine while being easy on the purse strings but nothing spectacular on the buds. It's not bad, just Okey-dok.

My grandma had her 87th birthday here this past week. She is a very picky eater, but she actually ate the food here. We had 8 people come around 8ish on a wednesday night. So it wasn't busy at all. In any case, we had a 10 course meal. They ran out of lobster, so they doubled the order of fried soft shell crab which is delicious by the way =) Anyways, I don't think i'll be able to remember all the dishes, but I highly recommend this place. Their soft shell crab is amazing and I love love loooooove their fried shrimp w/ walnuts. The shrimp is huge and covered in batter, then fried, and then covered with some kind of sauce... i think it's mayo-based. Anyways, if you don't know already, i am in love with shrimp! YUMMMMMY! So i was so glad that they did not skimp out on the shrimp =P Another dish that stood out was the fried noodles w/ chicken and vegetable on top. YUM! I love the combo of the sauce and the noodles - they compliment each other well. Oh and I loooooved their duck. I usually don't even like duck, but for some reason, this duck was flavorful and the soft, un-grainy texture was like heaven =P. Yay for that!!! =) The rest of the 10-course meal were typical cantonese style food. I loved it here and would totally go back again if I wasn't on a diet =P The staff was really nice.. maybe because it wasn't really that busy when we were here, but they made sure we got everything in a timely fashion and did not shoo us out when they were closing. They even took the time to take a picture of the family... which I don't know if you know... but it's the hardest to take a whole picture of a filipino family without a little chaos ;-). Anyways, they were great sports about it =) Bottom line: Deliciouso!!! =) Give it a try!!

I just had a party here and I recommend most of the dishes here. We had a 10 course meal here and I can barely breathe from eating so much. The egg rolls here are nice and crispy. I would highly recommend the lobster here. There is alot of meat on the lobster compared to other places I've been to and the sauce that they cooked it in was really good. I also liked the singapore noodles and the salt and pepper pork chop was amazing. The kung pao chicken and the spinach was too salty and not that great. If you are around this area, I would definitely check out this chinese food place.

Fu Lin is tucked away in Plaza Del Mercado and is often overlooked. I don't necessarily recommend this restaurant, but a lot of people who live close by never knew that Fu Lin existed. So take this as an FYI. Restaurants like these are a dime a dozen, but for those in the 20906 area, this is OUR dime :) Does that even make sense? Fu Lin is everything you'd expect from a cheap Chinese restaurant, and I especially appreciate their efficiency. I live 5 minutes from here and called in an order just before I left my house. My 3 dishes were ready about a minute after I got there - amazing! This is sort of off-topic, I rented out the space for a new year's bash in 1999 (Y2K! Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
